Steps to Apply for Financial Aid
Step 1: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
Obtain your FAFSA PIN 
. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and enter Regent's school code, which is 030913.
Central Financial Aid will send your Student ID and PIN once by e-mail once your FAFSA is received. If you are unable to access Genisys, contact the HelpDesk at 757.352.4076 or helpdesk@regent.edu.
Step 2: Financial Aid Document Requirements
Visit Genisys for Steps 2 and 3 of Your Financial Aid Application:
- Go to Genisys.
- Click the "Login to Genisys" link.
- Enter your Student ID and Pin. - OR -
- Go to MyRegent.
- Enter your Username and Password.
- Click on the Genisys link at the top.
From the Genisys Main Menu select the links for:
- Financial Aid
- Eligibility
- Financial Aid Requirements
- Select Aid Year
Step 3: Accept Your University and Federal Financial Aid Awards
From the Genisys Main Menu select the links for:
- Financial Aid
- Award
- Award for Aid Year
- Select Aid Year
- Accept Award Offer tab
Step 4: Complete Master Promissory Note (MPN)
Visit www.studentloans.gov to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) for federal loans if you are a first-time Direct Loan Borrower. You must complete a promissory note each academic year if you are requesting a private loan. You should receive this from your private lender. Immediately submit the promissory notes back to your lender.
Step 5: Loan funds credit to account and student refunds issued
- Loan funds credit to student accounts beginning one week before classes begin.
- Refunds are typically issued 3 days before classes begin. To sign up for direct deposit, from the Genisys Main Menu select the links for:
- Student
- Student Records
- Direct Deposit Information
View Your Billing Account Summary in Genisys:
(Amount due, fees and the date and amount of your refund)
- Financial Aid
- Award
- Account Summary by Term
