Research Centers
Because of the unique mission and resources associated with Regent University and the School of Psychology & Counseling, a number of research centers have been developed to engage in those activities that further extend our outreach and influence in the world.
The centers at the School of Psychology & Counseling hold regular events and workshops. In addition to the knowledge gained from hearing renowned speakers, some of these workshops offer certifications and continuing education credits.
Psychological Services Center
The Psychological Services Center offers a variety of therapeutic and assessment services at an affordable rate. It is staffed by clinical psychologists who offer supervision to doctoral and master's level students in the provision of therapy, assessment and outreach services. The faculty represent a wide variety of theoretical orientations, publish in an array of professional areas of interest, and serve on numerous professional boards as active members in the field. This broad-based professional commitment creates a rich learning environment for students and a resource of expertise for clients.

Institute for the Study of Sexual Identity
The Institute for the Study of Sexual Identity (ISSI) was established at Regent University in Virginia Beach, Va., in the spring of 2004. The mission of ISSI is to further our understanding of sexual identity, its development and synthesis, and to be a resource to students in training and those in the community who are stakeholders in these discussions. We do this through research, training and clinical services/consultations.
Child Trauma Institute
The purpose of the Child Trauma Institute is to serve as a leading voice in research, training, and practice understanding the role of religious and spiritual faith in the prevention of and recovery from various forms of childhood trauma, particularly child abuse. As such, the institute is the first and only research center in the country dedicated to studying the dynamics involved in child abuse from a spiritually integrative psychological perspective, with particular emphasis on the religious and spiritual issues faced by victims of child abuse.
