International Applicants
Our students represent various Christian affiliations, ethnic origins and nationalities. Currently, we facilitate students in 40 states in the United States and 22 countries around the world. While our mission extends around the world, international students wishing to study in the United States must comply with all requirements of the U.S. Government.
Prospective students with non-U.S. citizenship who wish to study in the United States will need:
- Admissions Application & Acceptance to Enroll.
- Visa Requirements.
- TOEFL.
- School Records.
- Computer Requirements.
1. Application & Acceptance
In addition to the application for admissions materials provided by the School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship (GLE), Regent University requires that all nonimmigrant international applicants complete the Supplementary International Application Packet.

2. Permission From U.S. Government to Enter the U.S. As a Nonimmigrant
If you are required to enter the United States for on-campus coursework you must obtain an F-1 or J-1 visa for that time period.
In order to obtain your visa, you must submit and complete the application process and the additional international application requirements. In addition to these academic admission criteria, you must also provide the appropriate financial support documentation depending on the program to which you are applying. Here are the minimum financial requirements per program that need to be proved in official bank statements:

3. Proof of Proficiency in English
Applicants whose native language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and score a 577 (written) / 233 (computer-based) / 90 (Internet-based) or higher to be considered for admission. Those who have taken the TOEFL and adequately scored do not need to take it again unless it was last taken more than two years ago. Applicants who have previously taken the TOEFL and scored less than 577/233/90 need to retake the test to achieve the required score. The test should include the Written Test (TWE). International applicants with recent college or graduate degrees from institutions within the United States or Canada where English was the language of instruction may request to have their TOEFL requirement waived. For more information, contact the GLE Office of Admissions at 757.352.4550.
4. Detailed School Records
International applicants must supply official English language translations and evaluations of all foreign language documents (i.e. transcripts).
These records may be called various things in other countries such as relevé des notes, mark sheets, student books, etc., but in the United States, they are referred to as transcripts.
Foreign language records will not be processed without an official translation and evaluation performed by a credential evaluating agency. Please see the International Admissions website for a list of recommended evaluators.
5. Computer Requirements
All students must be able to type, have reliable internet access and have Microsoft Office to apply for the doctoral programs.
If accepted, you will need to bring a laptop to each of the residencies.
