Those who have taken the TOEFL and adequately scored do not need to take it again unless it was last taken more than two years ago. Applicants who have previously taken the TOEFL and scored less than 577/233/90 need to retake the test to achieve the required score. The test should include the Written Test (TWE). For testing locations, visit www.toefl.org.

International applicants with recent college or graduate degrees from institutions within the United States or Canada where English was the language of instruction may request to have their TOEFL requirement waived. For more information, contact the GLE Office of Admissions at 757.352.4550.

Foreign language records will not be processed without an official translation and evaluation performed by a credential evaluating agency. Please see the International Admissions website for a list of recommended evaluators.

5. Computer Requirements
All students must be able to type, have reliable internet access and have Microsoft Office to apply for the doctoral programs.
