Residency Overview

Residency at Regent University in Virginia Beach, Va., offers a unique opportunity for students to meet and build relationships with one another, faculty and staff. Many of these relationships last a lifetime. All of our doctoral programs, such as the Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership, the Doctor of Strategic Leadership and the embedded Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies programs, offer residencies within the course of study.

Residency for Doctoral Students

Online or On-Campus Residency Options for Students Beginning
May 2012

All new students, beginning in May 2012, will have the option of attending their residency on campus or online. The first residency is considered orientation. While the online option will provide students with the same rigor and requisite information as the on-campus option, those students who attend the on-campus residency will have the added benefit of being immersed in the full Regent experience, which includes face-to-face interaction with professors, staff and peers in the program, and can facilitate increased camaraderie and peer support throughout the program. In fact, once our students have been on campus, many of them look forward to coming back year after year. Although the time on campus is rigorous, many students see it as a tremendous opportunity to be reinvigorated as they’re immersed in their studies in an academic environment surrounded by other scholars who are working toward the same goal.

Required On-Campus Residency for Doctoral Students Enrolled
Prior to May 2012

Doctoral students enrolled prior to May 2012 must attend the May 2012 residency on campus. We will phase in the on-campus or online option over the next three years. Thus, in May 2013, Cohort 2012 may elect to attend the second residency on campus or online while Cohort 2011 must attend their third residency on campus.

Optional Residency for MBA, MOL and MSF Students

MBA, MOL and MSF students are welcome to attend the optional May residency, which provides an excellent opportunity to network with other students, learn more about Regent University and meet personally with the faculty and staff of the School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship (GLE).
